In 2015, Mike traveled to Rishikesh, India where he completed his 200-Hour YTT at Suddha Anand Yoga Shala along the banks of the holy Ganges river. He returned to NYC to complete an advanced 100-Hour certification with Colleen Saidman Yee and Rodney Yee at Yoga Shanti in NYC.
During that training his father fell ill with late-stage cancer. Traveling back and forth from the hospital as a caregiver and the yoga studio as a student, he realized that yoga was not just a fitness model, or even a lifestyle, it was a language and vocabulary for processing grief, pain and emotion through the body. Since then, he has dedicated himself to sharing these practices with those in need -- from high stress corporate environments to hospitals and hospices -- through his work with Mindfresh and Urban Zen Integrative Therapy.
He is the co-founder of #SoberFlow, a monthly asana practice designed for those in 12-Step Recovery, and can be found facilitating Circle conversations for MediClub. Join him for a candle-lit, beat-bumping, hot yoga class at Y7 Studio.
Mike is extremely grateful to his teachers -- it is their light and their lineage that he hopes to share with the world.
He is available for group and private lessons in the tri-state area. Inquiries may be sent here.
